Unique League Format and Scoring System
Embracing the Stableford Scoring
At Raincheck Golf, we've taken a fresh approach to our league format to make it more engaging, challenging, and ultimately more rewarding for our players. For those unfamiliar with Stableford scoring, it’s a point system that attributes values to different outcomes on each hole, instead of counting total strokes. Here’s how we break it down:
Eagle: 5 points
Birdie: 3 points
Par: 2 points
Bogey: 1 point
This scoring format encourages aggressive play since the reward for birdies and eagles is significant, while the penalty for poor holes isn't as severe as traditional stroke play.
Introducing the Quota System
Now, here’s where we add our unique twist. While accumulating points in the Stableford format, each player will also have a quota to meet - this quota is essentially the running average of total points they've scored in previous rounds using the Stableford system.
For example, if a player's past three rounds resulted in scores of 20, 22, and 18 Stableford points, their quota for the next round would be 20 (the average of the three rounds).
How Do You Score League Points?
Players will earn their league points only when they play up to their quota. This means that consistently playing at or above your average is crucial. This quota system ensures two main things:
Level Playing Field: By tying league points to individual performance averages, we ensure that all players, regardless of their skill level, have an equal opportunity to succeed in the league.
Encouraging Consistent Play: This system rewards those who play consistently well, ensuring that a single outstanding round won’t overshadow weeks of solid play.
